Privacy Policy
Last updated September 11, 2026
Open Spots is operated by Galeworks, LLC ("we"). This policy says what we collect and why, in plain English.
What we collect
- Search inputs you type: a child's first name (or nickname -- any label works), age, your location or neighborhood, dates, and price preferences. We use these to run your search and, if you use the planner, to save it on your device.
- Email address, only if you give us one: to sign in, to sign up for an alert (registration-opens or spot-opens notifications), or to be told when a product we're still building is ready. We use it for the thing you asked for and nothing else โ no newsletter, no marketing to you about anything else, and we never pass it on.
- Basic usage events (website only): which camps get viewed and which "Register" links get clicked. This tells us which camps matter to families. It is not tied to your identity.
The iPhone app
- Your kids, your school district and your search settings are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- The app sends us no analytics of any kind -- it has no tracking code in it.
- If you ask to be told about a week, we store your email address and that week's dates, so we can send the alert.
- If you allow notifications, Apple gives us a device token for your phone, which we store so a push can reach it. It identifies the installation, not you, and we store it alongside your email only so the right phone gets the right alert.
- Settings โ Delete my data removes all of it -- your week alerts, your device, and any signup tied to your address -- from our servers, and clears the app on your phone. If the app can't reach us, it deletes nothing and tells you so rather than pretending.
What we deliberately don't do
- No accounts are required to search. Kid profiles and shortlists are stored in your browser, not on our servers.
- We don't sell or share your information with anyone, including camp providers.
- We don't run third-party ad trackers.
- Open Spots is for parents and guardians. We don't knowingly collect anything from children, and a child's name/age you enter is used only to filter search results.
Camp information
Camp listings are collected from providers' public websites and registration systems. We work to keep them accurate but always confirm details (price, dates, availability) with the provider before registering -- their site is the authoritative source.
Deleting your data
In the iPhone app: Settings โ Delete my data.
Otherwise email hello@findopenspots.com and we'll delete your alert signups and any data tied to your email. Anything from the website lives in your browser and clears when you clear site data. If you have an account, signing in lets you delete the plan saved with it -- we won't delete an account on an emailed request alone, because knowing an address shouldn't be enough to destroy someone's saved plan.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll note it here with a new date.
